The Hartlam Story
After the second Boer War a young man rode back to his wife who had stayed on her parent’s land with them, to find they had been taken into camps and later died.
With no other family, the land became his to build a farm.
Feeling it would be disrespectful to their memory for the farm to take his own name, he named it after the horse that had brought him home: Hartlam.
